Turned into a nail art/nail polish fanatic recently and went on a crazy shopping spree! In the midst of my exploration and discovery for awesome nail products, I chanced upon VOV Nail polish crack series while shopping my life away on GMarket (Now known as Qoo10 though I very much prefer the former).

It was really cheap compared to brands such as China Glaze and OPI which costs around $10 or more. $10 is the cheapest I've seen so far that are currently selling on GMarket and it excludes shipping fees of course. Sometimes I think that the shipping fees are really horrendous and some sellers might try to squeeze more profits out by increasing the shipping charges (which we won't know the exact amt since it's overseas and it depends on the size/weight and how it is packed etc). So anyway, quite turn off by some hefty shipping price which makes it seem all so not value for money...!

Anyway, here's to share my reviews on the VOV nail polishes.
I bought the basic colours, black and white one first. (bought another 3 more colours after trying them out =x)
Bought this recently. OPI's Number One Nemesis and now I understand its name, because I dislike the colour! At first, I'd thought it's shimmery glittery black but boy was I wrong! I did google for some swatches for this colour as well but it looks completely different on my nails?! It's more of dirty green than black. SIGHS.

So because I disliked the colour, I painted the VOV Crack nail polish over it and erm, honestly the crack nail polishes are great, but it doesn't go well with this OPI colour! Disaster! UGH!

No offence, I do like OPI nail polishes but just that this colour is so not me! I'm usually in shades of red, pink and purple and hence thinking of getting a black coloured one...
What I really like about the VOV crack nail polishes is that it dries out very fast! Well, this could be both a good and bad thing. If you paint like a pro with minimal mistakes, then great. But if you have shaky hands, like me, you can't paint accurately and by that I mean to paint from the cuticle to the end with perfect strokes, then it might turn out as a disaster for you because since it dries out so quickly, there's not much time to salvage it. If you try to repaint it over, it becomes lumpy and shows signs of overlapping, if you know what I mean. Compared to normal nail polishes where it's still wet and googey, you can somehow try to stroke it over again and spread them out evenly etc.

But nonetheless, this VOV crack nail polishes have proved their worth! It's sold for only $3.50 now at GMarket! I can't wait for the other 3 colours (peach, navy and wine) to arrive esp the peach!!! :D I shall use it with gold colour the next time round as shown here!
Heh! So stay tuned! :D

Was extremely glad and honoured to be sponsored by Cossy Pte Ltd with these lovely Leaders InSolution masks! It's like a wish came true and I've not regretted using them! One item off my wishlist! :D

Eagerly tried the Mela Tox for whitening and I am very pleased with the results! Besides whitening and brightening, my face felt so much softer, smoother and more supple! Plus, my skin elasticity also improved! It feels very 'boing boing' like a bouncy feel! Skin was super plump!

The mask was soaking wet with lots of essence. Might be a little messy though. Just be sure to keep the remaining essence in the packet so that you can massage them on your face and neck after masking :)
I can say that the quality is awesome. Better than other sheet masks I've tried because it sticks on really well. Although it can't fit perfectly, I have to overlap the sheets due to my face shape, it doesn't come off easily. But it does fit the eyes, nose and mouth well :)

Awesome mask. Better than My Beauty Diary for its whitening effects :)
Must try! I have so many other masks from Cossy Pte Ltd targeting on different problems. Thank you for being so generous Cossy Pte Ltd! :)

If you are a fan of online deals and love beauty products, then you must visit them! Don't miss out other awesome deals they are having too!

Have fun beautifying yourself without burning holes in your pockets!

Aww, guess what I have been sponsored with??

I'm quite sure many of you ladies are familiar with this Nivea brand because its popularity has escalated over the years, and more so, in the recent years due to their constant improvement of products, catering to heaps of ladies' desires and needs.

Only recently, I was becoming self-conscious of my dry skin since I am seated in an air-conditioned room, almost 24/7. Plus, the office's air-con is always blasting at me. :(
So, recalling the results I have achieved with Nivea's body lotion few years ago, I am now back to using it again, only with greater satisfaction! :D

Nivea has come a long way and can be said to be the first ever successive whitening lotion amongst other brands. When you think of body lotions, when you think of whitening body lotions, you think NIVEA. That's the impact it has on consumers' mind.

Let's take a look at its old packaging.
How many of you remember this packaging? Well, I do.
Then came the new series with a more appealing packaging look, catering to extra whitening desires, night use and inner cell repair...I remember using this 3 to 4 years back and managed to snag a twin pack from KL while I was there on a vacation at a steal!!!
This is the latest version Nivea has for its extra whitening series. It has added extra ingredients and value-added its worth, or at least we consumers think so. ;)
It has always dawn upon me that which consumer, when looking out for a whitening body lotion at the Nivea section, would actually choose the normal whitening body lotion (no extra whitening properties) over the extra whitening body lotion? And if I recall correctly, the price difference ain't that great either. Gimmicks gimmicks...

But nevertheless, I am one of those amongst the rest, who has fell for these gimmicks and who reckon will continue falling deeper and deeper...

There are other recent competitors such as Vaseline (the one that immediately pops up in your mind as the 'competitor of Nivea', Eucerin and well... can't seem to find any others (google it and you'll find 95% are Nivea's products). So, the market for this isn't that great, not taking into account of other chapalang (Taiwan, HK etc) or products which have not successfully wow-ed the crowd yet. Nivea is definitely the clear winner.

I remember using the older version of Nivea's whitening body lotion and was not very satisfied with the application process because of the thick creamy sticky feel that it produces and leaves on your skin. Comparing the latest version which is definitely so much better in terms of thickness, absorption and hopefully results, I'm sure Nivea's sales will continue to skyrocket. It has fast absorption that sometimes I forget if I've already applied in that particular area. :P

But one thing is, don't expect immediate results. It's neither a magical body lotion or a elixir of fair skin. Apply day and night and gradually, you will observe noticeable results. Fairer and softer skin :)

I think I might have to get the night one soon because I've always thought that the word 'extra whitening' prevails over everything and anything. But seems that I am wrong because since it is for night time use, there is no need to incorporate anti- UV ray components into the whole lotion ingredients. Consequently, more whitening ingredients can be added to replace the UV-reflecting components into the ingredient compositions. As a result, night whitening lotion works more intensively than the day lotion.

Doesn't this sound awesome? Ah, time to stock up those whitening lotions !!! :D

I know this product ain't the latest product Skinfood carries but I will still share it here :)

I used to refrain using rice mask because I had a minor breakout after using the rice mask from The Face Shop, but I couldn't 100% confirm if it was due to the rice mask since I had only tried once and that was eons ago.

Decided to give rice mask another chance and so I ordered this rice mask wash off from Skinfood online :)

So far so good, guess I'll have to monitor when I wake up tomorrow to observe any potential breakouts.
Doesn't smell like rice to me but very fragrant nevertheless :)
After application
Doesn't feel very coarse in its grains
5 mins after application. it dissolves...
Left cheek with my sexy moles. Did I mention I have tonnes of moles? Sometimes I feel I can play 'Connect the Dots' on my face...

Need to first clarify that the red pinky patch is not due to any allergy or whatsoever, it's actually the reflection of my hot pink camera LOL
Right cheek

I think I include the freckles as one of the 'dots' for the game. Had freckles since I was very young, I'm thinking that I'm born with them.. :(
Forehead. Red pink reflection of camera.
Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off

Product Size
100g

Product Description
Exfoliating wash off scrub mask with minerals, vitamins and gamma oryzanol. Moisturizes and whitens the skin.

How to use?
Apply evenly after cleansing. Avoid eye and mouth area. Gently scrub and wash off with lukewarm water after 10 - 15 minutes.

To note :
1. Do not exfoliate before using the mask. Cleanse it as per normal using facial cleanser. As this mask acts as a scrub, over scrubbing and exfoliating might dry out and too much for your skin to take.
2. Do take note to apply the mask before applying toner.

Results : Immediate brightening but not as effective as the results I achieved using My Beauty Diary and Fancl masks, but still satisfactory nevertheless. Also, my skin feels smoother and more supple now. Application wise, though messy but I guess it's common for most similar masks which requires application using fingers.

Note that if you skin is smoothened, it's relatively easier to apply foundation/compact powder over it too :)

Unlike Caucasians, due to genetics, most Asians have short and thin eyelashes that are dispersed. We require additional beauty tools to thicken, lengthen, strengthen and volumise them.

The trend of using fake eyelashes, or as I'd prefer to call it, falsies are seen almost anywhere and everywhere on many ladies' faces now.

So, what are the right types and styles for you?

Before sharing some juicy info and tips on the falsies I use, let us sit back, relax and enjoy these awesome pictures, shall we?
We have our famous Katy Perry (who has recently been under the limelight for her failed marriage with Russell Brand and her current sizzling hot news with her new lover, John Mayer) with her pretty eyelashes that helps to open up her eyes, making them look mesmerising as well as more alert!

And then we have Kim Kardashian, making use of falsies to create the alluring smoking eyes, sultry look.

Yes, notice how these falsies help to achieve the look you want? But you can't do that without choosing the right type of falsies.
A model with smoking deep-set looking eyes. Get attention on your eyes by adding on eyeliner onto your water line - be sure to choose the right, non-smudgy ones! :)

The fundamental factor in deciding the right falsies for you, would be the length of the falsies. Are they too long for you? Will you look like a witch instead of a beauty queen? As eyes are the windows to our soul, whatever changes you make on your eyes will affect your whole appearance and I'm serious!

You may try experimenting with those quirky designs but make sure they are appropriate for the event you are attending! A dress-up funky party or perhaps even for nightlife would be suitable, but definitely not for casual shopping outings or company's events. Yes, you'll get all the attention you want, but for all the wrong reasons.

Okay, all these falsies are just WAAAYYY TOO OVERRRR!!!  Dramamama, anyone?

Well, unless you're some anorexic model putting on your best front, catwalking along the fashion runway, if not, DON'T EVEN TRY THEM. Not ever, please.

A comparison between a 'before and after' preview illustrates the effects falsies create on your eyes. Feminism and stereotyping aside, you can't disagree that ladies look much better with battering eyelashes.

Closer to our hearts, here's a picture of Asian eyes. Notice the short natural lashes on the left and the instant volumising effects of falsies on the right. They actually look more like eyelash extensions but they are not. If you take a look at the website, they are actually falsies from MAC.

Now, take a look at some different falsies themselves.

As per above, I would only advise you to wear those which are 'out of the norm' looking ones during parties or clubbing. I think they are look perfectly fine for that, except for the feather looking ones.
An overview of my falsies

They are really awesome and you can get them at SaSa for only approx $6.90 for 6 pairs! There are promotions that reduce the price to $4.90 as well so do keep a lookout! :D I have been using these brands ever since I had been using falsies for 4 years plus?! And damn, I swear by them! :D

They are not filmsy nor easily shed the lash hairs. IMO, they are of a good quality despite their price! <3

The models are 703, 704 and 706 :)

I was once told that crisscross types look the most natural...But I think it simply varies individually..

Currently, I am using them as well.
I don't usually wear these type because they are sort of a milder version, not so dramatic. But I guess they are apt for work :)
Notice that these are double-fold eyelids? I never knew until I'd snapped this picture. But I do get double eyelids after putting them on, although sometimes they throw me off balance (pun intended), leaving me with 1 double eyelid and 1 single eyelid.

The trick is to press it against your eyelids when putting them on, to create the cease/fold. Something similar to using the double eyelid glue as well. Also, don't put it too close to your own eyelashes, put them a little higher on your eyelids instead, about 0.5 to 1cm. Don't worry, you can conceal the sight of your flesh using eyeliner.

I think I might just do up a post on putting on eyelashes because some of you girls, I know, are still struggling with that. Don't worry, practice does make perfect! :D

I hope this post has helped you in choosing for the right design of falsies. :)

If nothing works for you, try using hair extensions or cut off your hair to achieve this look :

You'll bound to turn heads, pop eyes and cause massive salivation along the streets...

On a side note, OUCH LOOK AT THOSE STICKY GLUE ON THE EYELIDS. I feel sorry for this girl even though it's just for laugh (I hope!) :D

Remember how I was so excited over the these sticker tapes in black? Yes! They have arrived and I've worn them out to try! A mixture of both good and bad actually... Read my previous post here!
I bought these few to try out and would get more if they prove to be value for money. My suggestion is to get the narrow type. The shaped ones are super out of the question because it's just so freaking long to use for the width of the eyes, well, unless you're telling me you have super wide eyes like this...
Which I then suggest you to well, better to stay home....

I know it doesn't make much difference but to someone who has single eyelids, it does! It helps to 'open up' our eyes, looking more alert and well, IMO, more pleasing to the eyes.

Not sure about you, but even with this sticker tapes, I face the same problems when using those usual transparent ones. The stickiness is extremely poor, like if you accidentally stick onto your eyelids wrongly and want to remove and stick it on correctly again, the stickiness becomes compromised. And you'll face problems trying to hold them up again.

Now, if you are facing the same problems as me, here's a little tip for you. It works for me.

Using the glue for falsies, dab it a little onto the sticky side of the sticker tape and stick it onto your eyelids. Brain cells' activation proved to be functioning well and came to a conclusion that since the glue for falsies is able to stick them on so well on your eyelids, it should do the same for sticker tapes too right? Brain, you have done me proud! And true enough, they do stick better! :)

For me, I'd prefer parallel eyelids over tapered ones! They look so much better, so even when I'm on falsies, I'd always try to achieve the 'parallel eyelids' look! :)
Sadly, I believe to the 'Mono Eyelids' Group :(

Here's another tip when using double eyelid sticker tapes.

If you wish to achieve a wider and deeper double eyelids, paste the tapes a little higher than what you usually paste. Perhaps try 1 to 1.5cm from your eyelids. It creates a deep-set eyelids which allures ;) Especially useful if you want to achieve parallel eyelids! :D

Yes, you would have to apply eyeliner to cover up those parts that aren't black. You don't want to go around looking weird and the double eyelid sticker tapes are meant to be concealed. The trick is not to allow anyone to notice them.

I'm using the K-Palette eyeliner BUT I'm advising you to get my Holy Grail - Bourjois Ultra Black eyeliner. Both are liquid eyeliners of course. I bought the former because I was in need of an eyeliner previously and couldn't get hold of the Bourjois one, which I have been using for a long time.

After applying the eyeliner, look downwards so that you don't get the eyeliner smudging all over your eyelids. Let it dry out first and test if they are done drying using your fingers. Gently dab to test.

After that, you're all done! :D

Hope you like this entry post as much as I do!

For all the single eyelids babes, don't fret! With just extra patience and more practice, you'll create lovely double eyelids in no time, even with falsies! I'm still on my learning journey as well!

JIA YOU! :D <3

Can't think of any others yet...

BUT I WANNA GET MY HANDS ON THESE AWESOME MASKS SOOOOO BADLY!!!!

HIGHLY HIGHLY RAVED!!! :D

Aiming at the whitening masks... Awww *Salivates*

They were previously sold in Watsons, supplied by cossy.com.sg and the 'Buy 3 get 1 Mask Free' promo has already ended long ago.

I'm wondering if I can still get them off the shelves at Watsons? Anyone?

Or I may have to get them from GMarket if that's the case... :(

Enjoyed reading my previous post on the other flavour - Strawberry Milk Mask from My Beauty Diary as well?

Then you will sure to enjoy this post as well! :)

Presenting the ever adorable HELLO KITTY MASK IN HONEY STRAWBERRY FLAVOUR!!!

It helps to :

- Brightening, Nourishing, Moisturizing

- Regains skin suppleness & radiance

- Repair damaged due to skin dehydration

 - Refreshing and minimizes wrinkles

Mask and packet are filled with essence of goodness! Remember not to throw them away after removing the mask. You can use the remaining essence for your face and neck massage! :)
So now you can see how terrible my dark circles are but I've got to clarify that I didn't remove my mascara on my lower lashes properly.

One main concern that I have with MBD masks is that they seem to tear more easily compared to their pioneer batches of masks. Also, the masks seem more translucent compared to the past. I guess perhaps this is the reason?

I used to mask while sitting and using the computer, just so I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. But I've learnt that you face will sag if you do that and since I'm hitting the ageing age soon, I now religiously lie down while masking, thought my eyes will still be glued to my iPhone =x

Left it on for around 20 to 25mins and massaged the essence onto my face as usual. The smell of honey and strawberry was not as great compared to the Strawberry Milk flavour.

Once the mask was removed, I could see instant brightening of the face. Something similar to the effects of the Fancl's whitening mask as well as the MBD Hello Kitty Strawberry Milk flavour. But what differs this mask from the Strawberry Milk flavour is that it really soothens the skin and I was left with soft and supple skin after that! Very very soft like baby's butt cheeks! :P

Am very satisfied with MBD masks and hence, that explains my pending arrival of more MBD masks! Whoops =x

I skipped the revitalising cream from Kose Sekkisei Supreme and only applied the Moisturiser after that as I felt it might be too much and may cause oiliness over the night.

Now, before I'd start, I would first like to clarify all doubts and place any tension at ease, that I am NOT against plastic surgery. I mean everyone has the fundamental right to decide how they should look, unless you are piously telling me that we should be thankful for whatever looks we are born with and that we should respect our parents for that. I'm not gonna even go there, but one has got to admit it that everyone WANTS to look beautiful. Although, well, beauty is a subjective issue and beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder...

But surely, beauty does boost one's self-esteem isn't it?

It's quite simple to comprehend this theory. Just imagine you are wearing your own favourite piece of dress, or that you managed to tangle yourself out of those bad hair days, or you had sufficient undisturbed sleep throughout the whole night hence waking up happy and refreshed.

Don't all these make you well, feel.. HAPPY AND CONFIDENT? Even if it lasts only for a day...?

Now, before you make an ASS of U and ME (A-S-S-U-M-E) , I would also like to disclaim that I have not undergone any plastic surgery before, be it minor ones such as double eyelid surgery (although I wish I had the $ and courage to!).

So, let's start.

Cosmetics are not permanent, unless you head for cosmetics surgeries, which then would be branded with all sorts of negative connotations like "Fake", "Plastic", "Unnatural" etc...

Plus, there are detrimental effects of plastic surgeries for post-surgeries as well as in the future. You heard of bleeding, wounding, losing one of your senses and even DEATH (!!!). You heard that it might backfire, reverting to its original form and worse still, reverting to a look worse than the original form. You have known of people having saggy skin, wrinkles, fine lines, droopy eyelids, nose fillers making the nose look weird (some sort like MJ - No offence though), botox leaving bulldog face and skin... Not to mention those ladies (or men!) who are obsessed with plastic surgeries...

Take a look at these pictures!

Plastic surgeries GONE WAAAAYYYY TOO WRONG!!!
GASP!!!
Extracted these pictures from Google images.

What's your take? I do think that they look SOOO much better before undergoing the knife...I meant KNIVES. These are seriously plastic surgeries gone wrong!

Closer to our hearts would be celeb local bloggers...
Local celebs...
For me, if plastic surgeries are deemed to be beneficial in your life in one way or another, then well, good for you. But if your surgeries gone wrong and you are overly obsessed with them, it's a BIG NONO for me. If your plastic surgery (perhaps your first attempt - hence not labelling you as obsessed) gone wrong, I guess you are just pure unlucky. Either that, you have not done enough research and homework before embarking on this life-changing event.

It is the intention of those who have undergone surgeries to beautify themselves. They may be less appealing than before (that's why they want to beautify themselves right?) but depending on how you judge, as mentioned, I do think that some should have never gone for plastic surgery. Spent a bomb (maybe sponsored?) and yet turned out disastrous. Imagine the double blow, or blows amplified when others slam you?

Plus, it's really difficult to be a human being sometime. While you can please some people, you will never be able to please everyone.

Denying getting a plastic surgery done, you get named as fake, liar what not and with the sudden surge of photos flooding of Before and After pictures, just like the above.
Putting on a brave front, admitting that you have tweaked your looks here and there, you still get criticised as fake....

SIGH. Ohwells.

My discontent
The areas which I ain't contented most would be my single eyelids. I think getting a double eyelid surgery done is not a big hoohaa. What's the big deal anyway? Would people judge you differently if you smack on those double eyelid sticker tapes? Or falsies? Eyelash extensions (a chill ran down my spine when I recall the recent terrible experience I had)?

The second dissatisfactory area which tops my chart would be my under bite. (Read here if you have no idea) I developed this under bite problem ever since I was young and I remember not treating it earlier when my cousin, who is now one of the top-notch dentist in Singapore, advised me that I actually have to undergo a jaw surgery. I would think it is now called chin augmentation? So yes a decade plus passed and here I am lamenting on my stupid under bite. :(

Whether one has to undergo a jaw surgery would depend on how serious the under bite is. Invisaligns and braces might be able to solve the problem if it's a minor under bite. The severity is best judged by a professional dentist. Since my cousin's advice was rendered to me a million years ago, I guess undergoing a jaw surgery is now a must. :(
Under bite is when your jaw is protruding out...
No photoshop (because I don't know how to use?!), no extra effects whatsoever. Just a simple raw picture taken after work.

I think I still look acceptable la, except for the dark circles...And I look the same as my 100% bare face.

Don't believe? Look at the picture below.
Pardon me for the different picture resolution. The former was taken with my digital cam while the latter was a self-shot taken with the iPhone front camera (poor reso).

Not much of a difference in looks right? Maybe an oilier t-zone? LOL.

Remember, specs always comes in handy for a disguise :D And I think I can still easily pull of as a JC student... Okay fine, to be fair, an undergrad at least! :P The cleaner auntie told me that initially she'd though I was only 18 to 19 years old... I knew she was only pulling my leg... Because I almost fell off my seat... Laughing hard... Geddit? Pulling my leg causing me to fall off my seat? :P

I used to be afraid of heading out without any make up on and I still do. I guess that's the detrimental effects after you start using make up. But I'm slowly letting the fears go and keeping to minimal makeup during days which I'm not heading out. They say natural beauty is the real beauty, which I must agree of course.

So, what's your take? Are you for or against plastic surgeries? Are you contented with your looks? Are you afraid of letting others view you without any make up on?

Share your thoughts here! :D

Thanks for reading! <3
